James and Latasha Williams have been married for 18 years and have been together for 28 years. They are proud parents of three children. Their eldest son, Deoante (23), is a licensed Texas All Lines Insurance Adjuster and actively supports the foundation’s training and inventory operations. Their middle son, Kaiden (19), is working toward his insurance license and contributes to the foundation’s training and inventory management. Both Deoante and Kaiden hold Food Safety Manager certificates, Food Allergy certifications, and TABC certifications. Their youngest, Kayla (16), is passionate about culinary arts and cosmetology and volunteers in processing for the foundation.
The Williams family shares a strong bond through their love of sports and wrestling. Whether working together on nonprofit initiatives or enjoying a big game, they remain committed to strengthening their family and community.
James Williams is the vice president and co-founder of the Kayla Bear Foundation, an organization dedicated to empowering underserved communities through mentorship, education, and family-focused programs. With extensive leadership experience and 14 years in the food service industry, James brings a strong foundation of teamwork and organizational excellence to his role. He holds a Food Safety Manager certificate, Food Allergy certifications, and TABC certification, underscoring his commitment to excellence in food service operations. His dedication to community development is inspired by his role as a husband and father. In his free time, James enjoys bonding with his family over their shared love of sports and wrestling.
Latasha Lathan is the president and co-founder of the Kayla Bear Foundation, which was inspired by the life and spirit of Kayla. She leads the foundation with a focus on providing resources, mentorship, and job training to underserved communities. In addition to her leadership role, Latasha is a certified Food Safety Manager and holds a Texas All Lines Insurance Adjuster License. Her passion for creating positive change reflects her love for family and service. Outside of her work, Latasha enjoys exploring holistic healing practices and watching sports and wrestling with her family.
Deoante Williams, the eldest son of James and Latasha Williams, is a licensed Texas All Lines Insurance Adjuster and plays a key role in supporting the Kayla Bear Foundation's operations. Deoante contributes to the foundation’s training efforts, ensuring that volunteers and team members are well-prepared for their roles. He also manages the foundation's inventory, ensuring supplies are well-stocked and organized. Deoante holds a Food Safety Manager certificate, Food Allergy certifications, and TABC certification, reflecting his commitment to professionalism and community service.
Kaiden Williams, the middle son of James and Latasha Williams, is currently studying to earn his Texas All Lines Insurance Adjuster license while actively contributing to the Kayla Bear Foundation. He supports the foundation’s training initiatives and plays a vital role in inventory management, overseeing the organization and distribution of materials. Kaiden also holds a Food Safety Manager certificate, Food Allergy certifications, and TABC certification. His dedication to teamwork and his family’s mission makes him an essential part of the foundation.
Kayla Williams, the youngest child of James and Latasha Williams, volunteers in processing for the Kayla Bear Foundation. She handles administrative tasks, including managing volunteer paperwork and assisting with program registrations. Kayla’s organizational skills and commitment to supporting the foundation’s mission make her an invaluable volunteer. At 16, she is passionate about culinary arts and cosmetology, specifically nail technology. Inspired by her family’s work, Kayla contributes her time and energy to positively impact her community.
Our mission is to work within the community to provide access to nutritious foods, education, advocacy, mental health education, holistic health care, and job training while increasing financial stability within the families in the community.
We envision a community where everyone can access a reliable place to receive nutritious foods, training, and education allowing community members to focus on obtaining higher needs.
1. Address Barriers to Employment: We help individuals overcome common challenges such as transportation, childcare needs, and access to professional attire.
2. Support Personal Development Workshops on soft skills, such as time management and teamwork, foster personal growth and adaptability.
3. Create a Support Network: We connect participants with mentors, coaches, and peers to provide ongoing encouragement and guidance.
4. Collaborating with local businesses and Non-profits.
Working for the Kayla Bear Foundation has been an amazing experience for me. It was my first time working for a nonprofit, and it has truly made a difference in my life. The foundation has brought meaning, love, and strength into my world. It has given me hope, inspired my dreams, and shown me the true meaning of family. Through their resources, I’ve been empowered to give back to the community and make a positive impact.
